If you connect your desktop computer to the Internet with dial-up networking, and you notice that every time you sync your Pocket PC the desktop PC connects to the Internet, and you want it to stop, you need to change desktop passthru in ActiveSync on your PC. Desktop passthru is a feature that enables you to connect a Pocket PC to the Internet while it is in the cradle. Normally you want desktop passthru to connect to the Internet, so when synchronization starts and you are using dial-up networking, a connection to the Internet is established. To stop this from happening you need to configure desktop passthru to connect to Work, or local area networks. On your desktop click Tools, Options, then click the Rules tab. Change the Desktop Passthru connection from The Internet to Work, and then click OK.
Keep in mind that after you make this change desktop passthru will be disabled.

Voicestream has formally announced that they will be providing WLANs in Starbucks. Voicestream recently purchased MobileStar's assets, and MobileStar was the WLAN provider for Starbucks. I have only two questions. When will this be available in the Detroit area? and When will Voicestream start selling the Ericsson T68 phone?

Why the Consumer Market Doesn't Matter Jeff Kirvin suggests that Microsoft isn't concerned about the consumer market, and that they are using the same model as when PCs first sold. First, get companies to establish the Pocket PC as a corporate standard, and then the consumer market will follow. The problem with that theory, however, is that there were far fewer people who owned personal computers then as there are people who own PDAs today. If a person who owns a Palm handheld works for a company that decides to make Pocket PCs a standard, do you think that person is going to stop using their Palm in favor of Pocket PC?

DentedReality Australia This could be cool.. a way to update a Blogger site by using AvantGo. But, my guess is that this is a custom channel restricted to 8 subscribers so it may not work. What I would really like is an application for my Pocket PC that I can use to enter weblog entries offline, and then have them all uploaded once I connect to the Internet or sync. I know all the technical pieces are parts are available, but I don't think I have the time to really dig into to make it happen.

Over the weekend I made a small change to this site that creates an RSS version of this site. You will notice at the bottom of the page there is now an XML button, and when you click that button you will see an XML version of this site. You can use the URL for that page in any RSS news aggregator, such as the one available with Radio Userland.
