I just checked out the Flash based HP Scientific Calculator fromflashenabled.com/mobile. The calculator looks cool enough, but you can only get about half of it to display within Internet Explorer. I have to keep scrolling back and forth to enter numbers and then see the display. Not good.

Compaq iPAQ Pocket PC software links Dave is planning to move his site, which is a directory of Pocket PC applications with a bias towards the iPAQ. The new URL will be http://www.ipaqsoft.net but it isn't functioning yet.

Wireless Flash unleashes multimedia This article describes a couple of applications being developed using the new Macromedia Flash player for Pocket PCs. One is a QuickStart application from Cisco Systems Inc. Now customers can take this application with them into wiring closets. Corda Technologies Inc. is announcing next week the availability of an interactive charting and graphing tools for Pocket PCs using Flash. AtomShockwave Corp has made several animation shorts and games available for Pocket PCs. And finally, Macromedia is working on a commercial release of the player that will be more robust than the developer release currently available.

The article also includes this snipit: "While Macromedia showed a demo of Flash on a PalmPilot in 1999, the company said low processor speeds on the PalmPilot have held it back from releasing a version for that platform yet. "

MedicalPocketPC.com -- Medical Resources for the Pocket PC It's my observation that the medical field is one area that is particularly interested in handheld computing. This is web site is devoted to the use of Pocket PCs in the medical field. It is a little more targeted than handheldmed.com.

Here is a guy who has managed to connect a Palm OS version of the Stowaway keyboard to an HP Jornada Pocket PC by making his own serial cable. No doubt if one knew the pin outs for the iPAQ or Casio Pocket PCs an appropriate cable could be made for them.

Michael Boone has done some testing of GigaBar performance and has found little impact caused by GigaBar. I personally don't use GigaBar not because it slows my Pocket PC down, but because I don't feel the need for it. On my main Pocket PC I use PocketNav and on my Casio EM-500 I have installed WisBar.

Ok, I have tested the Macromedia player with the EDS commercial on an iPAQ and Casio EM-500. It runs just fine on the iPAQ but chews up too much program memory on the EM-500. It's funny, the EM-500 is supposed to be such a great multimedia device yet I have tons of problems doing multimedia with it. I can play Pac-man. I can't run PocketTV, and now I am having problems with the Flash player. Not enough memory, I suppose.

Nooooo! How can this be? Jason scooped me on the EDS : Running of the Squirrels commercials being available in Flash for the Pocket PC. Not that there is competition or anything, but one would think that I would find out these things from my own company before the news reached Canada!

After hearing so much about the Vaja Cases I finally decided to get one for my iPAQ. I ordered the FlipTop version of the case in Brown Buffalo from DirectCase.com last Friday and received it today. The case is absolutely wonderful, and worth every bit of the praise that it has received. If you are looking for a case for your iPAQ this is the one to get.
